A brief history of U3A Northampton
Welcome To Northampton U3A
Northampton U3A was founded at a public meeting in March 1985 with 100 people present, and it formally began early in 1986. We now have a membership in excess of 700 which is steadily increasing.
Our aim is to encourage and enable older people in the Northampton area who are no longer in full-time paid employment, to help each other to learn, by providing facilities for leisure time and recreational activities.
Our groups cover a wide range of learning activities and meet regularly in each other’s homes or local halls. They enable members to cover a wide range of learning activities by sharing their knowledge and experiences and developing their own capabilities by learning from each other.
Members regard themselves as both learners and teachers and arrange and support their own programmes as appropriate to their chosen learning activities.
A monthly social meeting, with a guest speaker, takes place on the last Tuesday of each month, except July and December, at 2.30 pm in The Turner Suite, at the Northampton Cricket Club premises in Wantage Road or Abington Avenue Northampton.
