Discussion

1st Discussion Group

Leader: Rosemary Newman 01604-717494

Meetings are held fortnightly on Wednesdays from 10-12.30 at various venues.

The aim is to discuss topics chosen by the members, to put their own views, listen to others and learn more about the topics chosen by others in a friendly atmosphere.  Where appropriate the topic is debated rather than discussed.

More diverse views are desired so new members are encouraged especially men !!

2nd Discussion Group

Leader: Peter Smith

We meet once a month in Northampton at the house of Joan Hassett – people do not come to my house as Silverstone is a little off the beaten track for people living in Northampton and Joan is a very good host  - the Oral History Group also meet at her house.

Officially we meet at 10am on the second Tuesday in the month but we do vary this date from time to time to suit the members.

There are currently only 6 members (five ladies and myself ) and we would welcome new members, particularly men.

The subject, or subjects, to be discussed are agreed upon democratically on a meeting by meeting basis and have ranged from “euthanasia for or against” to “ Where do we get our moral standards from in a secular society?”.

However, even wnhe the subject is serious and controversial we never come to blows !!!

3rd Discussion Group

Leader: Gill Horrell

This new group will be held monthly on the 4th Monday of the month at 2.00pm at the leader’s home.

Topics for discussion are agreed and circulated in advance, so members can give some thought to these.

Each topic will be briefly introduced by a member of the group, to get the discussion going.

Topics range from serious to more light hearted and members can share views in a friendly atmosphere,.
