Short Mat Bowling

Leader: Tony Bignell 01604-408155

Deputy : John Davies

We meet at the Camp Hill Community Centre every Tuesday, (except the last Tuesday of every month, when the U3A meeting is held) at 1.45pm to allow time for changing shoes etc., to commence play at 2.00pm until 4.00pm.

Short mat bowling was first started in 2006 by Mr J Smith and as from there has gone from strength to strength.

It's a very relaxing sport that anyone can enjoy summer or winter.

No real skills are required, just practice and a few friendly words from our skippers.

Bowling is held every week at Camphill Community Centre ( as above ) at 2.00 pm until 4.00 pm where everyone has a great time, with a break at half time to enjoy Tea and Biscuits and a good natter.

The group is now run by Tony and his second in command John and with swelling numbers this group is growing all the time.

Requirements are that flat shoes are to be worn (no heels etc.)

All other equipment is supplied by the Community Centre, such as the carpet, mats and bowls.

This is a pleasant afternoon with a cuppa for bowlers of mixed ability.  There is a small charge to cover the cost of the hall.

Do come along and join us.

Any further information can be obtained from Mr Tony Bignell on telephone number 01604-408155

Do you measure up for a game with us ?

Ten Pin Bowling

Leader:  Brian Adams

YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD TO BOWL….THAT’S TEN PIN BOWLING

The Northampton U3A group has recently announced a ten pin bowling social activity each month and everybody is invited.

It’s held on the second Thursday at 2pm in each month, and the venue is local in Northampton. Contact Group Leader direct for venue and times.

Because we’ve joined as a club, the cost currently is £6 for two games (all in), which is terrific value compared to normal rates and if you fancy a drink whilst playing, there is a bar.

Put your mind at rest if you are unsure about your abilities, this game is for everybody….you can even `close the gutters`, so every ball knocks down some pins. What other activity can promise 100% success, not be impacted by the weather and generates a fantastic opportunity to have a chat, improve your health through activity and allow you a bit of friendly competition.

So don’t think about it….do it, join us on the second Thursday in the month at 2pm …it’s good company, good fun and a good game.

The Group do not meet in July or August due to school holidays.
